01. Community Empowerment and Local Representation
Transparency and accessibility are at the core of my approach. As your representative, I will organise regular surgeries where residents can voice their concerns, share ideas and engage in meaningful discussions.
These gatherings won't be mere formalities; they'll be dynamic exchanges where your opinions shape decisions. Whether it's discussing local infrastructure projects, education policies, or healthcare services, your input matters.

Local Decision Making
Too often, decisions are made in distant corridors of power, detached from the realities of our community. I propose a fundamental shift toward local decision-making.
Let's empower our town councils, neighbourhood associations and community groups to have a real say in matters that affect us directly.
Whether it's planning for new parks, allocating resources for youth programs, or addressing traffic congestion, we'll work together to find practical solutions. Your voice will be amplified, not drowned out.
02. Strengthening Our Economy
Supporting Small Businesses
Our local economy thrives when small businesses thrive. As your Member of Parliament (MP), I will advocate for policies that reduce bureaucratic hurdles and encourage entrepreneurship.
Let's create an environment where startups can flourish, existing businesses can expand and job opportunities multiply. By supporting local enterprises we'll keep money circulating within our community, fostering economic resilience.
Investing in Infrastructure
Alyn and Deeside deserves modern infrastructure that supports growth and connectivity; here's my plan:
- Transportation: To repair and upgrade existing roads, bridges and transport networks. Reliable transportation is essential for commuters, businesses and tourism.
- Public transport: Fares modified in such a way that everyone, no matter their income, will be accessible to everyone. Cheaper travel, more commuters, no more empty buses or trains, more overall revenue for the service providers, a win win situation in my opinion.
- Broadband Connectivity: High-speed internet access isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. I will work to bridge the digital divide, ensuring that every household and business has reliable connectivity. Extend and promote the existing "budget" schemes that are available, indeed, make it free for many households which will reduce the stigma attached to those currently without broadband.
- Industrial Zones: Let's strategically develop our existing industrial zones and where possible expand upon them, indeed, create new ones that will attract new industries. By providing well-equipped and affordable spaces, we'll create jobs and stimulate economic activity.
03. Education and Skills Development
School Funding
Our children deserve the best education. I will fight for fair funding for our schools; this includes:
- Teacher Training: Investing in professional development for educators. Well-trained teachers inspire our students. I will also present a formula where training can be achieved without loss of days to the pupil.
- Resources: Ensuring that classrooms have the necessary materials for effective learning. From textbooks to technology, we'll bridge the gaps.
- Special Needs Education: Every child deserves tailored support. Let's enhance special education programs and provide inclusive learning environments.
- Reduce School closure days due to snow on the ground: This is something which has to be stopped, too many children miss out on these days, not only with their education, but some miss out on a hot meal which they depend upon. Additionally, it seems disproportionate when the parents of these children have to arrange childcare on such days, because they are expected to still go into work. If the parents can still get to work, why cant the teachers?
Apprenticeships and Vocational Training
Not every student follows the same path and that's okay. Let's expand apprenticeship programs and vocational training. By equipping our youth with practical skills, we prepare them for a variety of careers. Whether it's in technology, healthcare, or the trades, we'll create pathways to success. Our young people won't just graduate; they'll step confidently into the workforce.
04. Environment and Sustainability
Green Initiatives
Our beautiful landscape in Alyn and Deeside deserves protection; here's my vision:
- Renewable Energy:Clean energy benefits both our environment and our economy. I will actively support hydrogen, solar and hydroelectric projects. Insofar as wind power, I would only support this if the electricity company involved could guarantee that the turbines were out at sea so as not to further place a blot on the beautiful landscape of Alyn and Deeside.
- Tree Planting: Enhancing green spaces isn't just about aesthetics; it's about combating climate change, providing natural habitat for wildlife and promoting a sense of well-being for all. Let's plant trees and restore ecosystems.
- Waste Reduction: Encouraging recycling, reducing single-use plastics and promoting sustainable practices. I would campaign to make paper bags free as this would encourage their use, saving customers from being "stealth" taxed on purchasing plastic carrier bags. This would also drive stores to opt for paper over that of plastic. Our actions today impact generations to come.
- Preserving Green Spaces: Our parks, rivers and natural habitats are invaluable. Let's work together to preserve them for future generations. Whether it's creating wildlife corridors, maintaining clean water sources, or promoting eco-tourism, we'll prioritise sustainability. Alyn and Deeside should be known for its green heart.
05. Healthcare Access
NHS Funding
Our National Health Service (NHS) is a lifeline. I will tirelessly advocate for increased funding; this includes:
- Hospital Upgrades: Ensuring our local hospitals have state-of-the-art facilities. Quality healthcare starts with well-equipped institutions.
- Healthcare Equality: Working towards elimination of the disparity between the NHS systems that exist between England and Wales. Although I acknowledge that England and Wales have their distinct differences, the word "National" should mean just that, we live in a United Kingdom and as such all services should reflect this.
- General Practitioners: GPs should be made to make themselves more accessible to their patients. I will work with whatever Government is in power to this end. Due to GP unavailability and given no other option, people are being forced to fill Emergency Departments to capacity. A GP should be available to their patients 24 hours a day, as it used to be.
- Mental Health Support: Prioritising mental health services and reducing stigma, let's invest in well-being.
06. Housing and Affordability
Affordable Housing Projects
A stable home is essential for everyone; here's my approach:
- Rent Control: Advocating for fair rent prices. No one should face housing insecurity due to the skyrocketing cost of rents. To properly address the discrimination concerning those on benefits, the self-employed, and pets to suit both landlords and tenants.
- First-Time Buyer Support: Assisting young families in purchasing their first homes. Affordable homeownership builds stability.
07. Community Spirit and Social Bonds
- Community: A thriving community relies upon strong social connections. I will endorse local events, clubs and gatherings that foster a sense of belonging.
- Volunteering: I will encourage volunteering opportunities, neighbourhood watch initiatives and for example, community gardens, which contribute to a vibrant social fabric.
08. Cultural Heritage and Arts
- Heritage: The celebration of local culture, traditions and history ultimately enriches our lives. I will endorse any venture which promotes the development of museums, art galleries, and cultural festivals which all play a vital role in our unique history.
- Creativity: Local artists, musicians and writers require support, to ensure that the creative people in our constituency thrives.
09. Green Spaces and Recreation
- Recreation: Existing environmental conservation should be expanded upon. Accessible parks, playgrounds and recreational areas are an important factor in enhancing general well-being.
- Outdoors: I will expand on existing walking routes, sports facilities and picnic areas that provide outlets for physical activity and relaxation.
10. Safety and Security
- Community: A safe environment is fundamental. I will work to maintain and expand upon effective policing, emergency services and community watch programs which ultimately contribute to residents' peace of mind.
- Public Safety: My commitment is to work with Departments in addressing issues such as anti-social behaviour and ensuring well-lit public spaces which are crucial to the overall well-being and safety of the public.
- Security: I will make it a priority to secure funding for the installation of security cameras, alarm systems and other security devices throughout all pensioner and vulnerable adult homes. People should be made to feel safe in their home.
11. Education Beyond Schools
- Lifelong Learning: I will promote the expansion of libraries, adult education centers and workshops that ultimately empower residents to acquire new skills and knowledge.
- Inspiring Initiative: I will encourage curiosity, confidence and intellectual growth, which benefits both individuals and the community.
12. Local Businesses and Markets
- Local Businesses: I will support independent shops, markets and local producers which strengthens the economy and creates a unique sense of place.
- Markets: I will support farmers' markets, craft fairs and artisanal goods which contribute to a vibrant local economy.
13. Transportation Connectivity
- Transport: I will work to ensuring and maintaining a reliable public transport link which connect residents to neighbouring towns, cities and employment centers.
- Infrastructure: I will work in promoting an effective cycling infrastructure and pedestrian-friendly streets which enhances mobility for all.
14. Other Issues
- The after effects of Brexit
- Illegal immigration
- Housing, both social and private
- In general, taxes on inheritance, fuel, food, employment, alcohol, cigarettes and anything that creates an unecessary burden upon the average person. In the main I will always vote to either have these reduced or kept at the very minimum.
- The effects of Devolution on the people of Alyn and Deeside. I will always vote to favour the best interests of the people in this constituency.
Remember, it's the combination of these elements that shape the quality of our lives in Alyn and Deeside.
